BIO - TOMMY VARGA

Tommy Varga, (drums, percussion, and vocals) grew up in Brooklyn, Ohio. Raised by Steven T. & Rose Marie, Tommy started playing drums at age 5. At age 7, he started singing in the boys choir. Then at age 12, he started playing gigs in coffee houses and small clubs with his father and brother.  In Ohio, a minor must be with a parent in establishments that serve alcohol. Since Tommy was gigging with dad, everything was within the law and he gained valuable experience.

Tommy also played in his school band from 5-7th grade. He then studied and performed in drama, musicals, pit band, and in 1983, he wrote the "Marching Band Cadence" for the Brooklyn High School Marching Band.  In the early 80's, Tommy performed with his brother Jeff in the Jeff Varga band and went on to study percussion at Baldwin Wallace College. He also performed with various local bands.

During any off-time with Overnight Express, Tommy slicked his hair back (with KY Jelly!) and performed with "The Roger Martin Band", a country band that was signed by Steve Popovich, founder of Cleveland International Records whose greatest claim to fame was Meatloaf's "Bat Out of Hell" album.

In his travels, Tommy played Latin Jazz in Puerto Rico and fine tuned his skills on the conga, and bongos.

After returning to his home in Brooklyn, Tommy played two years with "The Buzz Band", and was sponsored by Miller Brewing.  Being a drummer that can sing pop, rock, and ballads, Tommy has been sought after by various local bands, including the Rock -n- Remember band where Tommy and Danny met.

It's easy to see, Tommy is the quirky, crazy, full of personality drummer, you have to love. Who else would wear plaid shorts and a loud tie to a photo shoot?  That's Tommy!
